SAT and SAT Subject Tests??

Hi,

I have in the last few days been trying to register for the SAT in May but there is one detail that I find confusing. A lot of universities which I want to attend require SAT subject tests, SAT and the SAT Essay. However, it seems as I can only sign up for SAT or SAT subject tests and then have the option of taking the essay in combination with the SAT. Do I just have to take the exams twice then and do both on two occasions? Is there a better setup with the ACTs in this regard?

I’m a bit confused from your description… If you’re asking what I think you are, then the SAT essay is done with the exam, not separately, so you would sign up for the ‘SAT with essay’. Subject tests are completely separate and have to be done on a different date (although you can take up to 3 in one go). Does this help?

Your question is a little unclear. If you are asking if you have to take the SAT on one date and the Subject Tests on another, then the answer is yes.

It depends. Some colleges that require/request Subject Tests with SAT do not require them with ACT. However, other colleges request/require Subject Tests regardless of whether you’ve taken the SAT or ACT. It really depends on the college.

SAT is with Essay.
SAT Subjects are separate tests (ex: Physics, Math II, Literature)

If you want to take the SAT Essay, you need to take the SAT and schedule it with the essay. Subject Tests are primarily testing you on certain subjects as aforementioned.
