I got a 760 on the Chinese subject test 2 years ago, and was 99% sure I wouldn't send it due to the poor score & percentile. I'm applying to colleges now, and I'm reconsidering sending it to my ED school, NYU Stern. It's the only subject test I have currently (I'm taking 2 in October). Would it be a good idea to send it just to show that I have knowledge of the language? My reasons are that I'm not a native Chinese speaker/writer and knowing a foreign language could be an advantage when applying to a business school. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are a chinese, don’t send it because top colleges think it is your native language and will not accept it as one SAT II score.

On the Common App it asks if you’re first language was English or not, and I wasn’t born in China, so I don’t think they will consider me as Chinese, even though that’s where my parents are from.

It does not matter if you speak it or not. If Chinese is spoken at your home, they consider it as your native language, at least for Chinese. However, Spanish is not in this category. I have a hard time to justify it myself. It is a good idea to ask the school before you send.

Thanks for the input. Anyone else?
