should i take the sat II's for chinese?

i know i can't take the chinese sat II's for chinese w/ listening until next year...but i'm wondering if i should take it or not.

i mean, i'm chinese, but i'm definitelyy not a native mandarin speaker because i speak cantonese at home. i can understand mandarin, though. so i'm not worried about the listening part. &i'm not worried that worried about the parts with pinyin or the other bopomofo phonetic thing because i can guess the meanings okay....but i can't reallyy read chinese at all, except for maybe a few easy words. and i know there's a part of the test with just reading in traditional//simplified letters. that part is 33% of the test!

so i'm worried...would colleges be more strict about the scores for a person of chinese origin? if i get a so-so score on it, would it affect my chances of getting into a college that i want?

my advice would be not to take it. it won't look flattering if you get like 750 because they expect you to know chinese since you are chinese... which kinda sucks. and yeah, reading chinese is a big part of it. most of the fobs at my school take the test and get 800 on it.... and people are like oh no! if they get 790 on it so yeah...

oh okayy. thanks. haha. now i gotta think of what other subject tests to take! grrr. ><"

no. the average sat language subject test score for korean is like 757 and chinese 767. i also heard top colleges dont really accept them because because they know the tests are so easy for native speakers. i am in the same position as you. i cant read fast.... so i am going to brush up my korean a lil bit and take it along with history and math2

for once, i'm jealous of my friend who moved here 2 years agofrom hong kong &got a 800 on that test. i wish i more asiany! haha.

because if i were i would be able to pass the chinese sat II &be really great in math and not have doubts about taking math 1. -___-
