i sat for the SAT I this october and here are my scores:
maths 740
writing 640(8 in the essay)
critical reading 610.
i have to get 2200 next time to ensure full tuition scholarship.someone please help me.tell e what to do.i did memorize the 1000 common words for the SAT and finished the official sat study guide,11 SAT tests by princeton review, cracking the SAT.

Are you a junior? If you’re a senior, then you’re gonna have to use like 5 hours a day for SAT prep. The 1000 common words aren’t enough for vocab, though personally I barely used anything for vocab. All I did was memorize Barron’s 3500 once, but I got a 690 in the end, so don’t do what I did. If I could change one thing about my studying, I would’ve memorized Direct Hits. It’s teh pwnage.

CR is mostly logical reasoning and you’ll get used to it really quickly, but enough about CR - I’m in hardly any position to give advice on reading.

WR is all about memorizing rules. Silverturtle’s guide helps A LOT with each of the MC question types. I got 79/80 MC raw with 9 essay, which totaled to a 770 WR. It’s all about practice.

Actually, I wouldn’t suggest learning too much vocabulary. I just learned strategies to pick the correct vocabulary words and I also learned the words that I didn’t know on the Official SAT Study Guide (Blue Book) Critical Reading sections.

For Reading Comprehension, I was a real devil’s advocate and loved to eliminate the wrong answers. I also bracketed line numbers in the text so I could go back to the questions to answer them once I had read that section. For me, the best strategy was using different strategies and then merging them into my own personal strategy. This helped me get an 800 on the Oct. 9 SAT CR.

For Writing, I didn’t use a grammar guide but I did a lot of practice with the Blue Book to learn the grammar rules. Silverturtle’s guide is certainly helpful but you also need practice with the Writing Multiple Choice sections of the Blue Book.
