SAT Critical Reading: Harsh Curve?

Alright, so I’m taking my last SAT in October and one of my main concerns is the critical reading section, which is usually my worst section.

On the January SAT I got a 2040 with a 640 reading, missing 17 questions in that section alone.

On the May SAT, I got a 2110 with a 690 reading, but I only missed 9 questions in CR.

I haven’t done any prep, but it certainly appeared that the curve for the May test was considerably harsher than that of the January one. My question is that if I can replicate my previous performance, will my score still be sub-700 or will it probably increase to somewhere in the 700-720 range with a typical curve?

I want to know how much I should study if I want a 700, or if prep could help me much.

-9 is always under 700,iirc. A typical curve puts -7 at right around 700.

Wow, really? I didn’t realize the curve was so stacked in the 600s for # incorrect.
