I heard that the SAT was curved. So, is there a month to best take it? My teachers told me to not take it in October because all the Seniors are taking it for the last time so their scores will usually be higher and the curve will be harder.

Take it whenever you feel you will be most prepared, and try to take it at least twice. The curves are usually very small.

That said, if you think you will score in the middling range (1600) then the curves will be more significant. Still, don’t worry so much about the curve and instead try to practice for the test.

The curve is predetermined before you take the test. I am sorry to say, but your teacher is flat out wrong. Everyone in the world could get perfect scores, but the curve is still determined before you take the test. Dont try to game the system.

I agree with bllbb6. There is no “best month.” Sure, the scaling curves will vary slightly month by month, but nothing significant. Besides, if there is a month that the curve is less harsh, what if the test itself is significantly harder?

Your teachers are incorrect and you should just take the test when you are most ready, and before or on the deadlines required for colleges you are applying to.
