10-06
Critical Reading 640
Math 710
Writing 610

i'm concerned about my scores.
i'm applying to:
MIT, DUKE, UPENN, COLUMBIA and safety schools not worth metioning.

the rest of my app will be strong no doubt, and confirming withwhat i've seen from the EA results for Ivies this year, 1960 is below the mark.

i've check with the colleges, they said they will accept the jan SAT.
My question is, should i retake the SAT I in January?

Are you a URM or athelte? Otherwise, no offense, but your SAT score does not really stand a chance in the admissions process....

^ agreed

get the CB blue book and practice the writing section... thats the easiest part to improve in IMO... just make sure when you go over your answers, understand what you did wrong and hit yourself a couple of times over the head so that you wont do it again :P

(just not too hard)

Predator: URM? not sure what that means. iknow the scores are below Ivy standards. Its just i've been scanning the EA decision threads for all the ivies, and there have been plenty of 2400's deferred to top tier schools. It's been proof about all we hear that SAT scores are only a single aspect in the selection process. Its also given me hope.

I ask that further posts disregard the colleges i'm applying to and not address my chance for admission, but rather answer the questions at hand. How will it look to colleges if i take the SAT 6 times? is it worth doing this?

smart lil azn: IMO?

if u go to penn thread, there are people who got in wharton with scores of 1950 i think.. it was below 2000

URM = Underrepresented Minority

Taking the SAT 6 times is rather excessive...

unless you can make some significant improvement, like bringing them ALL up above 650... I dont think taking it again will do much.

Also, I heard that taking it too many times would make you look like you have "nothing better to do."
which isnt true probably, but I did read that somewhere.

IMO = in my opinion... oops sorry the extra "in" was a typo :S

I would agree with that, aquamarinee. I've heard the same thing, that they might question your priorities, especially if ECs aren't strong.
