SAT discussion in Jumpngo's jouranl MOVE HERE =] (feed/quick&slow,etc)

I just did half the practice test (decided to do it timed), and im doing very well in writing and math...but same as always in CR ill finish it tomorrow.

@feed: wow i started off in the 1500s as well (math- 600s, cr- 400s, writing- 500s)...i took a few practice tests and my writing went up quite a bit, math a decent amount, but my cr score is still low as #$%# lol...btw how many practice tests did you take?

Around 10. All timed, all with the essay.
Remember to post your scores when you're done!

Lol, me too! The first time I took a SAT test I made like 1500s.

Heck, if I make 2300+ this Saturday, I will make sure to make a comprehensive guide on how I did and everything I've done and try to give away the prep materials I have.

I would give them away right now but I'm too busy studying and I won't be sure I'm really a top scorer until I get my scores back.

Anyways, GL to everyone taking the SAT this Saturday!

@Feed, your really quite amazing and inspirational!

yeah, I didn't start off too hott either. I just wrote a timed essay. Lol, harder than it looks. I think i got my strat down though. I wrote a/b 1.3-.4 pages.

I saw that I wrote a little small, and I definately bunched my words together. Sooooooooo, hypothetically speaking, if I enlarge my words a bit, and put a lil more space in between, I got my 2 pages. =]. Or at least 1.75. My ideas weren't really coherent, but I'll glet it down. ><!

@Quicksandslowly, awh shucks. You're obviously better, because you're getting the hang of things compared to me. I'm GLAD to hear that you wanna compile all your strategies and post them up. :) (Would love to check 'em out. You give really easy-to-follow advice.)

If and when I reach my goal, I definitely want to do that as well. Good luck to you too!

@jumpngo Lol, we think alike. I always convince myself that I can probably stretch out my writing, but I couldn't do that on my March SAT. I only wrote like 1.5 pages, and got an 8/12. Keep practicing, although at this point, I think you shouldn't practice writing the essays. Instead read sample essays, think of a couple of flexible examples and look at your mistakes from past practice tests. I've noticed that the usual themes in essays are:
1. Success vs. Failure
2. Individuality (aka Freedom - could include Choice, Motives, Selfishness, Competition etc.)
3. Experience (Learning from Past, Thinking of the Future, Technology etc.)
4. Vague... [This could include stuff from Political crap to Quotes... a few days ago I had to write on 'When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.']<--- Hate these although they can seem to be quite easy at times. <_<

Anyway, yea, happy studying. ;)

lol thanks for the advice, but i'm a person that needs to do the work in order to feel confident. I need a foundation of confidence in order to go high. Anyways, yeah I want to write how I acheived my scores too. This is of course AFTER I take them, and completely DONE.

When I read 'go high' I thought you meant...'get high'. >_>'
I'm really sleepy right now.

Well, whatever rolls your wheel.
This sucks, you're making me want to write an essay or two also. Hogwash!

Will take another practice test tomorrow (hopefully), and post scores.
Until then... Zzz

lol. another practice test. us nerds...

I'm eager to join into this whole SAT practice and post your scores club when my exams finish (i.e. 3 weeks from now) although you're all probably taking the May 3rd SATs :(

We should still make a club though!

lol club.......

Agreed with Sci-Fry, since I know I'll probably be taking the SAT again (UNLESS I break 2300, which is very unlikely right now).

Anyway, going to take the practice test today.
Will post scores.

P.S. Today we filled out AP stuff at our school, and that's just really scary. I haven't been studying for APs at all. Crap. >_<
And High School years are supposed to be the best years of your life. Roll...

no. thats college. high school is alright; its just a sling shot. lol break 2300. f that. I think my goal will be to get low 700s on each section. which is unlikely right now as well..........................................

FEEED, what school are you trying to go again? Ivies?

@Feed. That would be awesome! BTW, do you know what the prompt for the March SAT was? I'd like to practice with it. Thanks!

lemme know how your tests goes Feed.

@quicksandslowly, i think it had something to do with teamwork and whether it's beneficial to work as a team or alone.

I just got back i think ima try to finish the rest of the 3 sections right now

lemme know how you do too voodoo.

hey do ya'll meticulously/tediously analyze every question on each of the tests you take? even the ones you get right? Its just so tedious.. argh.

@jumpngo Yes, it's all part of improving. Unless you are absolutely sure that you will never miss a kind of question then you should always review the questions.

i just finished the test and I reached my goal (2000), but i'm sure i just got extremely lucky.

Math- 760
CR- 530 (T.T still can't improve on cr)
Writing- 730 (i didn't do essay i gave myself an 8 for it)

I'm really happy about my writing score this is the first time i've gone over 700 in writing, though my CR is still low as ever I really don't know what to do :/
