On my first SAT, I got 2150 because of really stupid mistakes and little preparation. On subjects, I got a 770 in math II, 790 in chem, and 800 in us.

My SAT I score really seems fatal as is.

I am retaking it October with lots of practice, but in the case of some nightmare scenario that my score stays static, can I scrape by into Cal/UCLA with my current marks? (GPA is very high and ECs are above average)

I’d be extremely surprised if you did not get in, even if you had crap essays. Your current SAT score is extremely solid. I’d recommend retaking it once just to see if you can improve it to raise your chances for Regents Scholarship or give you a boost for any private schools you are applying to.

2150 is OK for most majors at Berkeley and most universities, in fact. I would treat your second time taking the SAT as a “bonus run” where, regardless of how you do, you still are going to get into at least one of Berkeley/UCLA. That extra confidence and nonchalance will do you wonders. Aim for 2400 ;)
