So I was just wondering if anyone wants to share somegood example that they are planning on using--either literature or historical. I'm going to be so relieved once the essay is over just because I feel that it coudl really go either way. It just depends on the question and how fast I am writing that day. So i fanyone has some good, general examples (I am mostly interested in historical) I think they would be very helpful for everyone.

On a side note: I have this thing about this one mechanical pencil I have--I love it. Do you think think that I could write the essay with it, or does it need to be #2 for the essay as well? Thanks everyone! I hope the snow falls heavy in Boston, but I don't think well be in luck.

It really depends on what the prompt is, but Martin Luther King really relates well for many of the promts. Also, you can really extract anything from a story you are familiar with.

I heard that the graders of the essay just look for like a minute per essay at how well you can orgnize ideas...so i am just going to be making up stuff as i go along, with lots of detail that may not be correct. I have been getting 6 on practice tests, i think i will stick to that strategy.

David218: just how many mechanical pencils are not #2? The only pencils I can think of that are not #2 are certain drawing pencils. Anyway, I went to an SAT seminar at school and the teacher said not to worry about the essay, that if you can just put some sentences together that have something to do with the topic you would score 3-4. If you can write well, you should have no problem getting 5-6. If you get all the multiple choice right, there is a chance you can still get an 800 even if you don't get sixes on the essay. Now, for the math, it's a different story. Good luck.

I think the standard for mechanical pencil lead is HB, which it says is equivalent to the hardness of a #2 wooden pencil, but I don't want to sue it if I'm not absoultly sure

my tip for the essay would be to go online and pick 2 historical figures who are pretty different from each other and find about a paragraph biography of both of their lives. make sure what they believed in is general enough to apply to most topics (ie. martin luther king jr.). this way you'll probably have at least one solid historical example for whatever prompt they give you...and then you can add to that with won't be confused tomorrow or wondering what to write about.

I'll do that, I can't believe this test is tomorrow, it's always been loooming somewhere off in the distance, and now it's suddenly here. Suburbian, you have no idea how reassuring it is to hear HB is ok. My essay will be 10 times better haha, I love my mechanical

I understand, most of my SAT II tests since 9th grade have been taken w/ the same wooden pencil, and now it's stumpy. It's done me good things!

Wow, I feel like such an oldie because I've already taken the SAT.
