SAT essay intro

So.. A teacher told me to write the introduction paragraph of a SAT essay like a "funnel". Starting with a broad statement, then developing it into a thesis statement. However, I read online on lots of websites that the SAT essay isn't graded like a usual essay, and that I should start with a strong thesis. I need a lot of help with my essay so I'm practicing a lot right now for the October SAT, and I think I should just stick to one method.
Can anyone tell me which way would score higher?

If there are other suggestions or advice, they'd be more than welcome.

From what I’ve read, starting with a strong thesis statement is the way to go for the SAT essay.

Its just like your standard english essay you’d write for class. Start broad, & create a brief roadmap.

Start with a hook and then make your sentences more and more specific until you reach your thesis statement. Like a funnel. Don’t write more than 5 sentences; less is more.

My sat teacher always said to say your conclusion, then your reason, example, and restate conclusion. If you think about a lot of the CR passages are structured this way as well.
