SAT Essay Length vs. Score

i got a 760-- i guess that clears things up. pretty likely a 20 point increase in score for each pt on the essay

How Do I Get My Essay Re-graded? Exact Directions Please! A 7 Is Pitiful, Esp. For How Well I Thought I Did.

any help???????

I can't say I'm happy... I got a 12 (which is crazy) with a 1.75 pg essay but really only 3.5 paragraphs (my conclusion was really roundandabout that just repeated the same 2 sentences over and over). I only got 59 on my MC however and received a 650. What do you recommend so that I can improve my MC?

length: 2 pages, large handwriting
grade: 8/12
I am satisfied - 700 on the writing section.

the MC matters so much more, just forget about the essay (unless you cant break a score of 8/12) and focus on the MC

May (my last post on this thread was for march):
1.7 pages...11/12 (damn...oh well i'll guess i'll never get my 12..grr)
65 MC (killed me)

680, a drop of 40 points from last time (ouch)

at least u did really well on math [800 right?]

I was consistently not-so-good: 690 - 690 - 700 cr

I'm gonna retake in October!

This is my first time taking it, so I'm afraid my counselor would push me to retake it. (not that I want to)

1.5=9 i got an 1840 i betta do better in oct

2 pages: 9
=(

over 2 pages had to squeeze tha last 3 line complete conclusion 3 examples got an 8 >.< (my writting might had something to do with it)

2 pages, I got a 10, but my writing is big. My writing score was a 670 (65 MC).

Are the MC raw scores for writing doubled? (I mean there were 45 questions on the test, weren't there?)

1.9 pages
12/12 (770 writing)

I wrote slightly beyond the margin of the 2nd page, had 4 paragraphs and 4 or 5 examples and I only got a 10

I have been writing essays of great quality in AP Euro, AP US, and AP Lit and I have no idea how my essay did not get a 12

I did however get an 80 on the MC and therefore an 800 in writing, so no harm done and I'm not complaining

I think everything written about the essay goes out the window. I used different books (Dorian Gray, Invisible Man), and a real life-historical example. My essay was 4 paragraphs with few, if any grammar and spelling errors

So I guess the advice is to just do well on the MC because the essay graders have no idea what they're doing

1.5 pages of damn good writing (considering the time limit, if i may say so myself. writing is my biggest strength, though quick writing is not..) and i got a freaking 9... what the hell? its definitely length, that article is such crap. i got a 73 on MC which brought me to a 720 total. disappointing considering i got an 800 on psats.

my conclusion was really short though and i didnt have time to talk about my 3rd example (which i mentioned in the intro) in the body..that mayve been the reason.

do they explain at all when you get your full score report back?

i don't think you can really say the essay writers don't no what they're doing. perhaps they just aren't looking for generic essays with few varied examples. my only use of examples took up about 1/4 of a page. the rest was just random philosophical stuff that in some odd way was supposed to apply to these examples. i still managed an 11 and an 800 writing. with my handwriting, i'm confident the only reason i didn't get a 12 is because one reader couldn't really read it :)

length: 1.2 pages (1 page plus 3 lines)
score:11/12

length is not important at all as long as you really have something to say (or something to make up, that is what I did)
I also forgot to use any literal and historic allusions

hmm.. sketchy..what did you write about alwaysfaithful?

these essays **** me off, the same essay could get a 12 in one place and an 8 in another, easily. but apparently the colleges are aware of this
