recommendations:
I think they will be good because both teachers asked me if they could write them because they thought I was one of their best students in many years.

I have a really high gpa 4.55/4.6 and with this semester's grades it will be even higher bc I have straight A's in 6 ap classes. (I think like a 4.59/4.6)

Most people say high gpa w/ low sats shows grade inflation in an easy school, but my hs is ranked in the top 100 schools in the nation. There aren't many people who have taken all honors/ap throughout hs, and even less who do so w/ all a's (im ranked in the top 1%, and it should jump after this semester).

Do you think my grades will make up for my low scores for Duke

I think with the increase in applicants, they might see my mere 1920 and laugh. With my scores I dont think I have any chance!!

you've got it.

I honestly don't know. You do have a lot of pluses on your application. If it helps, I applied as well with only a 1360 CR + M. With my Writing score, I had a total of 2110 though. I think you still stand a good chance. Good luck!
Oh, by the way, did you apply to Wake Forest University? Even as a safety? It's the only Top 30 University NOT to count your SAT score, and you would have no trouble getting in with all your other stats. I'm just wondering...

I think you will be fine. Sats are not everything. You are a well-rounded student and you are an URM. If your essays were spectacular, I think you will have a good chance. BTW, the newsweek top highschools does not measure schools accuately. If more students sign up for the APs, then the ranking will go up.

you're probably in. you're black, so don't worry about the poor sat scores. kind of unfair in my opinion but true nonetheless.

thanx but i dont think being black will cover up for scores sooo low. there are plenty of AA w/ high scores. Hopefully they dont apply to Duke!!

660 and 600 are not "fails"

yeah i'm exaggerating, but for Duke those numbers are in the lower 25%

your other scores are solid.

if you nailed the essay. I'd say you are in.

good luck.

This poses an interesting question: how different are the standards for people with hooks? I'll be curious to find out how it goes. But yeah, Wake Forest is beautiful and you could certianly get in there. Good luck.

yea, I'll post results when they come in

This is intriguing... by virtue of your courseload, I think that you stand a pretty good chance of getting admitted to Duke.

But out of curiosity, why do you think the SAT was difficult for you? You're obviously a very intelligent student.

Like me, her strenghts don't lie in English, which constitutes 2/3 of the test. She probably would have done better on the ACT-her science SAT 2s are the best part of her standarized testing.
