SAT - find the wrong word

Hi. I have a sentence where I have to find the wrong passage. I don’t understand it.

  • John and Sue, who were tired after traveling, brought their parents their tickets to the show.

I said that the wrong passage is the second their but the solution says that traveling is wrong. Why?

having travelled would work better in this case - because they were tired after a past action, so we use (having + gerund)

@WasatchWriter plz help

@BethanyD - I don’t think travelled is a gerund

Mixed up! I meant an -ed form.

Bethany and CHD,what do you think the final correct sentence should be?

John and Sue, who were tired after having travelled (to indicate that the travelling occured in the past before they got tired), brought their parents their tickets to the show.

Thanks! :slight_smile:

SAT prep books can be wrong. :slight_smile:

I would have guessed the second their as well.
“John and Sue, tired from travel, brought his and her parent his and her ticket to the show.”

There’s no reason to believe that John and Sue are brother and sister or share parents.
Either way it’s a horrible sentence.
