I'm preparing for the SAT/ PSAT and I find CR to be pretty tough, especially the vocabulary. I find the only way I can learn Vocab is through practicing with real flashcards. I don't want to go through and make like 1000 flashcards, so what are the best flashcards with SAT out there that I can buy? I prefer sets that have a lot of words , preferably 1000+. And I'd hope that these are the most common words that show up on the test. If anyone has used flashcards can they tell me if they helped or not? And another question: I was wondering how many words are actually used on the SAT, i.e how many different words have ever been used on a test ever. Is there any way to find a complete list? I know, I'm a freak :P

The hit rates on these kinda vocab lists are horrible. I wouldn't bother.

^ I can understand how that could be true, but if it is then how exactly does one go about studying vocab words effectively?

You don't need to learn 1000 words for the SAT. The vocab list in Cracking the SAT was the best "brief" list I found. It groups the words by overall meaning, which helped me a lot.

And yeah, you need to make flash cards. If you write the words you're a lot more likely to remember them. I wouldn't want to make 1000 flash cards, but the PR hit list doesn't take that long to write out.

Honestly, just learning the strategies (+/-, etc) should allow you to do alright on the sentence completion. You can still get 750+ that way.
