I still havent gotten my PSATs back because of my stupid school who always holds them until later. As soon as I get my scores back i m gonna start prepping. Should i take the SAT this early? I come from a school where more than half the seniors were retaking SATs in Nov., Dec. (we have the lowest scores in the county) I really want to get into ivies but dont want my 1st SAT to be really low.

I highly suggest against it. If you don't want bad scores, wait until your Junior year to take the SATs. You'll have sufficient amount of time to study.

I agree with lasko. Timed practice is a good thing, and I suggest buying College Board's 8 SATs and doing them under true conditions. It'll probably help your score a lot more than this 1-time experience will.

And save you some money, to boot.

I don't think it is a good idea, I actually I know, because I tried it. I didn't do very well at all. I'm a junior and have already taken that stupid test twice. My scores are awful and I am near the top of my class. I really need to do well on my next SAT in the spring to get in to the top schools.

Personally, I'm in favor of taking the SAT as early as possible since it's really just an aptitude test which doesn't rely heavily on learned material. I'm a sophomore and I've signed up for the March 10 administration.

I would say wait. As one of the posters said above, you dont' want to be a junior who's already taken it twice. Why not just do well on it once? I'd suggest taking it after NEXT year's PSAT (November, or before the PSAT in October)-when I'm taking it too :0
