I currently stand at a 1450; and I’m seriously contemplating whether I should try to do it again in Jan. I haven’t touched any SAT Material since the last time I did it in November, and i’ve done it three times already.
I’ll probably only have two weeks to read for the test if i do it. Should I?
You’re already in the 98th percentile. It’d be one thing if you got a 1450 the first time you took it and want to improve, but you’ve already taken it 3 times. Even if you retake again and increase your score, you most likely will not be able to increase it by much. I’d spend your time and efforts elsewhere.
Given that there’s not much time left, I don’t think it’s worth it.
What grade are you in? Is having a 1450 decent for the schools you’re wanting to apply to? If not, taking the SAT again with more prep beforehand can be beneficial (only if you’re a junior, though).
I’m not sure why I’m seeing so many people telling you not to retake it.
If you are giving something up by studying for it again, such as involvement in an extracurricular, then yes, your time could be better spent elsewhere. If the cost is a burden, there are waivers for it. But there is no harm whatsoever in taking it again. People on here are saying that your score will likely go down. I say, it only will if you don’t prepare properly. You’ve taken it three times already, so you should have a good understanding of what you did wrong; the content you are lacking in; the time management skills you need to learn; and the ins & outs of the predictable standardized test that is the SAT.
Here’s my two cents: if you are willing to break your back, and put in a lot of focused, effective preparation (and I mean quite a bit), then you should take it again. There is no harm in it–there is only a possible benefit.
