SAT II Biology E/M, Math I, Math II

Has anyone ever just used the Sparknotes online for biology and scored in the 700s? Will this and doing the questions in Kaplan's review book be enough for a high score? Any ideas, views, comments?

Okay, for the maths, math is one of those subjects that really just comes easily to me. I was working on the PR book for the maths, and some of those questions are really really far out there. It's stuff that I've never had to learn before! Is studying for the Math II going to include everything on the Math I? In other words, will studying just for the Math II be sufficient? My Barron's book comes in tomorrow from Amazon, but I seem to really be running out of time for this test prepping. If I take the practice tests in Barron's book, and review everything I miss, will I have covered everything in the Barron's book?

Thanks guys...I hate standardized tests, and it's great to have people out there who wanna help out.

Sparknotes Bio won't be enough.

lol...speaking from experience, or just knowing?

I guess both. I am taking the exam this weekend and I have taken the "official" practice test. You will need to know the topic pretty thoroughly. The things sparknotes covers is probably the bare essentials for the SAT II biology.

I recommend PR as a review, it explains things well. Also barrons for certain things PR does not cover and some detailed explanations of certain concepts, however from what I have heard barrons is a little too detailed.

Sparknotes is good for practice testing though.

Personally, I read PR a couple of times, and did lots of practice tests. I also read Campbells bio, but that was for AP biology. Right now I am just refreshing/reviewing stuff until Saturday.

ah...i have the PR AP Bio book, Kaplan's SAT II Bio book, this Sparknotes stuff, and the Campbell Biology book (the green one); only problem, though, is that I don't seem to have enough time to go through all of these and hw and the maths for the SAT IIs...i'm probably going to take practice tests and just review what I miss. Are you taking either of the maths this weekend?

read Kaplan's for Bio. im taking it this weekend, but from what ive heard it really preps you out well.

b u m p . . . .

How's Cliffs for Biology?

Kaplan's questions suck. They're hard as a mofo. Their review is unmatched.

Sparknotes' review is good, probably enough to score in the 700's. Most likely not an 800 unless you had a really good teacher.

Barron's covers topics that are completely random - like listing every disease imaginable (completely useless). Their questions (at least the ones on the info relevant to the SAT II) are easy. (Rule of thumb: if the topic isn't covered in another SAT II book, it is probably NOT going to be on the SAT II. In other words, Barron's provides little more than Kaplan/PR/SN/etc, and will probably be a waste of time).

PR, as il bandito said, is good for both a preview and a review. I would read it just to get a taste of what you'll be studying as well as a good, broad, review to make sure you're studying the right topics.

CliffsAP is said to be unbeatable for AP review. I haven't used it, though, as my Kaplan SAT II book was enough to get a 5.

Do you guys think that SAT II and AP prep books can be used for each other? I think that using an AP book to study for an SAT II would work, but I'm not sure about the other way around...aren't the quesitons on an AP test more detailed than on an SAT II? I guess it would work either way as theone used Kaplan's SAT II for biology AP. Anyways just wanted to put that out on the drawing board. Does anyone have any views/opinions/ideas/etc. on the SAT II Math I and Math II?

Is AP or IB Bio a requirement in scoring well? I've taken honors Bio, I will have had half a semester of AP Bio, and I have the PR book...will that be enough?

I think that's plenty...the main reason I'm worried is because our AP class wasn't really like a class class; we learned a lot, but we weren't ever tested on it. There was always so much material that our teacher made a deal with us that if we just learned the material, she wouldn't waste too much time testing us.

Sparknotes SAT II Biology be bad, but their Biology sections is quite nice and thorough IMO.

Check it out: http://www.sparknotes.com/biology/index.html

I plan to use it to brush up for this sat. exam.
