Hello everyone!
So I'm deciding between Biology M and Lit. I take Biology HL and English HL in IB, and have looked at both Barron's books.
Even though I am better at Literature when it comes to writing (my writing was the highest in my SAT) than Biology, I am quite concerned about the poetry and the pre-20th century texts.
I have not studied that many of each, so any terms about poetry are foreign (i.e. lambic meter), and some of the texts are hard to analyze.
So I guess my question is, which one is easier to get a higher score in?

Thank you; your response is appreciated :)

I was in that same exact boat when I was deciding which tests to take. Like you, I am in both Bio HL and English HL. I ended up taking both, Bio in May (before the AP) and Lit in June. To be honest, I walked out of both thinking I scored ~650. I ended up getting a 740 and 790, respectively.

I am going to level with you and say that if you pay attention/do well in English class, you should be fine with little prep. I know the rigor of English HL pretty well, and I think it prepares you well enough for the subject test. The only prep I did for Lit was take the official test offered in the CB blue book to gauge my preparedness. I scored in the low 700’s but I took it the night before the actual test so I just decided to wing it. Poetry was probably the hardest portion of the test, but the only real identification I had to do in terms of structure was to identify a sonnet.

As for Bio, I used Barron’s to prep and although 740 is low by CC standards, I was quite pleased with my score. If you spend extra time on this, you should be fine. The only tricky thing about Bio in my opinion, is that CB can literally ask you anything from the topic, anything from sacromeres to fossils to lacteals. It’s free game, so you really have to be prepared! Trust me when I say you can do both, though.
