Going to take SAT II Biology soon - which looks better - high score on E or not as high score on M? Want to major in chemistry.

Are you taking the SAT II Chemistry? Most colleges seem to prefer SAT II Chem or SAT II Physics over SAT II Bio, and a few don’t even take SAT II Bio for the science subject test.

How big is the score difference? You might be surprised to hear this, but SAT II Bio E actually has fewer 800’s (as a percentage of test-takers) than does SAT II Bio M, but I’ll definitely agree that SAT II Bio M is tougher to prepare for and probably better demonstrates an inclination toward chemistry (a few of the M questions you can easily answer using your background knowledge in Chem). It all depends on the actual score difference- 100 points? 50? 200?- and the corresponding percentile difference (check CollegeBoard’s website). If you’re not sure and your M score is at a percentile range you’re comfortable with, go with M because M is tougher.

Thanks for all the information, dividerofzero. I had Chem last year as a sophomore but didn’t know I should take the SAT II. ( I am in IB in a huge public school so don’t always get the best counseling.) Maybe I can brush up to take SAT Chem next October.
