Okay, so this Saturday, I am taking the SAT II CHEM, and the SAT II MATH II. I have been studying for both of them for a while, but let's focus on chem here. I have the Barron's book, and my scores have been iffy, but my Chemistry teacher has given us some past (really old) subject tests, and scaled, I have scored around a 710 (average).

What I basically want to know is:
- What last minute (last week) studying should I do?
- How should I go about taking the test (day of)?
- (if anyone took it in May), how was it/how did you do?

Any other advice/tips is very thankful as well (also tips for Math II are welcome)

Finally, if anyone reviewed with Barron's:
- Can a 650 equate to a 700+ on the real thing (Chem)
- Can a 720 equate to an 800 on the real thing (Math II)

Thank You All In Advance!

Here are some answers to your questions, but not sure how much I can help…
-I would just recommend looking over things you don’t know, or your weak spots. For me, I looked over electrochemistry and the solubility chart (which was important) because I wasn’t good with those.
-Just take it like you’ve taken practice tests. If you aren’t sure about a question, skip over it. You don’t need to get every single question right to get an 800. Be careful about your timing. The actual test can go much quicker than you thought it would. I made that mistake, and it cost me the extra time I had wished for to go back to check the ones I was unsure of.
-I thought that I had done really well one the test (May), and I ended up getting a 790, which isn’t bad! I got an 800 for the Math II test also, but I had been really unsure about that one. I had used Barron’s to study for both of these tests, btw.

And for your final two questions, I think a 650 on Barron’s should be able to get to 700+, but I’m not sure about the 720 to an 800 on Math.

Best of luck to you on Saturday!

790 is great! Congrats!

And thanks for all the answers

I’m taking the Chemistry exam this Saturday as well, but I think that your questions apply to almost any subject test, and I’ve also been doing 0-2 questions wrong on my practice tests.

What last minute (last week) studying should I do?
I think that you should really look over the things that you don’t know. But, more specifically I’d recommend looking over things that are just sheer memorisation such as the names of the scientists, the lab set-ups, the colours of the compounds, and etc. because those are just memorisation and it’s good to keep them fresh in your head. Concept wise, I wouldn’t recommend looking too much at it anymore because if you don’t get a concept, especially something big, then it’s probably too late to learn it at this point and looking at it more will just make you more confused and frustrated. I’d look over all the concepts you do know though. Do a little bit a day.

How should I go about taking the test (day of)?
I’d recommend waking up earlier starting tomorrow because if you don’t normally wake up early, especially on weekends, it’s a bit of a change in pace and that can throw you off. I’d also do a few practice questions from each portion of the test in the morning so you can get yourself into the Chemistry mindset. Don’t do any super-hard or tricky questions because that’ll just depress your morale and potentially affect your performance. Then when you actually start the test, just take it like a practice test like jsun said.

The week before, go through the reviews in the prep book. Do a couple timed practice test.
The day before, do one practice test (only take 1 hour per subject). Put in new batteries in your calculator (and bring a back up too).
Have a good sleep the night before the test. Wake up around 1-2 hours before the test just like in a regular school day and have a good breakfast but don’t eat too much. It is better to have an egg or two that would keep you stomach full for a while. Just relax and take the test.

can you send me the past papers that your teacher has given to you my email is meena_karim******.com

@burning00 Search “released chemistry sat subject tests on google;” the third link or so says something like AP Chemistry; click on it; look through it, there are 3 SAT Subject tests there; he gave us one other, but I only have it as a hard copy. The site is something like “sites.google.com…”
