SAT II Chemistry retaking in october tips?

Hi all! I just received my SAT ii chem results...very disappointed 640...retaking in october...any tips...I didn't take AP chem. but I prepared VERY THOROUGHLY through the PR 2010-2011 book...how should I prepare over the summer? thanx guys :(

Take lots and lots of practice tests from all types of prep books, and understand why you missed every problem that you missed. Don’t confine yourself to just one book. And if it’s too much money to go out and buy every SAT Chem book available, just sit down in the book store with a pencil and paper and take the practice exams. Trust me, it works! I probably took over 20 practice tests before sitting down for the real thing. Good luck!

^Yeah, I second that.

@cherry: really, did u take AP chem though? thanx for the advice…:)

I didn’t take AP chem, but I found the Barron’s prep book (I had an old, maybe 2001 edition) and Sparknotes useful because the difficulty of their exams is much greater than the actual test. I consistently scored in the high 600’s-low 700’s on those and ended up getting a 780 on the actual June '11 exam. I found the McGraw Hill tests to be closer to the difficulty of the real SAT II. Improvement on this test is absolutely possible, especially with the amount of time you have. Good luck! (:

I was enrolled in Honors Chemistry, but I self-studied for both the SAT Chemistry and AP Chemistry. You can absolutely improve your score - the SAT is not nearly as difficult as the AP.

Got an 800. I used my AP Chem Princeton Review for both the AP test and the SAT II. I did not use a separate SAT II Chem book for review. Did the practice test in the Official Subject Tests Study Guide by CB and the problems on the CB website.
