Hey everyone,

I'm a high school sophomore who's in love with Latin. I understand there's a SAT II Latin test, but I know nothing about it. Can anyone fill me in? For example, at what level of fluency must I be to take it?

Any thoughts, tips, info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

I took the latin subject test this past June and I found it to be easy with 4 years of latin (including ap) under my belt. However, I would definitely recommend that you take it after your last year of latin since there is a portion that asks questions on several sight passages. Besides that it’s just vocabulary, grammar and a few questions on english words derived from latin. I would use the REA book to prepare since it’s really thorough. Besides that, take a look at the practice test from the official college board study guide for subject tests. The real test is pretty similar.

Hope this helped!

I did not know there was a Latin test.
