Sat Ii Latin? Thoughts? Tips?

What do you guys know about the SAT II Latin? Are there books for it? Is it respected by colleges? Is it hard?

this is just a guess, but sat latin is pretty recent and i bet the national latin exams are more prestigious.

i'm taking it in december. i barely see any posts on it. i need to pick up a book soon.

I just got the official college dictatorship sat ii guide, and looked at the latin. it looked pretty easy.

do you know what sort of things we have to know for it? Is it harder or easier than the nat'l latin exam??

I've gotten an 800 on SAT Latin and a perfect score on the level 4 National Latin Exam, so I can compare them. The SAT Latin very much based on grammar, so reviewing noun, verb, and adjective forms is key. It is also much fairer than the NLE because it does not test culture at all. If you are on top of the grammar, have a decent vocabulary, and are competent in sight translation, you should get at the very least a 700. I'd say it was harder than the NLE (which I find to be a joke), but still very manageable. REA makes a review book, but I didn't find it very helpful; it would probably be more efficient to just look over the noun and verb charts in a Latin textbook.

okay, will do, thank you!!

Yeah thanks a lot. When I took the National Latin Exam, all of the questions I missed were culture questions. every time. I really still don't think that tests competency in Latin, but maybe I'm a sore non-perfect-scorer.

anyone use wheelock's latin?

that book is heavy on grammar and vocabulary.

do you think that alone would prepare you for sat ii latin?

maributt, do you know where i can purchase wheelock's latin?

amazon.com

try buy.com

you can get the workbook that goes with it and the text for $31 (free shipping) and if you use google checkout take $10 off for a grand total of $21!

i love buy.com and google checkout...

thanks!!! (10 characters)

Which Weelock's latin edition should I buy? and what's the workbook I should buy with it?

ed. 6 ... and don't get the workbook...

well you need the workbook to get free shipping AND the $10 off $30.

buy the textbook for $17 + shipping or buy the textbook and workbook for $21??

as it so happens, I used wheelock. I really hated that book at the time, but now I know how much better it is than almost every mainstream latin textbook.
