The college of my choice requires me to take the SAT II in literature as one of my three. What is the main subject matter on it and what can I do to prepare myself?

Well...I guess you could say that it's like the CR part of the SAT I but with harder questions. There'll be a good chance that you'll find poetry on the exam.

Just grab yourself some review books and take the practice tests. It'll help your Literature and your CR scores.

Thanks, s would you reccommend even reading books that may be on the test?

No...the CB will not use books that you would likely have read. Even if you have somehow read something that is on the test...it will only be a very very small segment, and previous knowledge of the book will accomplish nothing.

how is the curve on the literature test?

I Heard Its Pretty Steep.. Though Im Not Al That Sure

yeah it sucks that it's the only SAT II in the english section since they got rid of the writing SAT II because they added the essay to the SAT I

ouch. I am taking the sat2 lit in a week. can anyone here offer me some help? where do I get practice tests etc... ehh???

idamyar... dont worry.. im sure youll do well.. y dont u use PR or Kaplan for lit.. i heard theyre good..

I did SATII Lit last year, and I found that I got quite high results even though I felt that I had gotten NOTHING right (I got 730). However, I found it the most stressful out of my SATIIs, there was hardly enough time. Therefore, try to get your hands on as many practise tests as possible, and time yourself. You'll want to know how long you will take for each text excerpt, so you don't panic when it comes down to the actual test. There are a lot of practise questions on collegeboard.com, and I think you can also buy full-length practise tests online there. If you want a whole book, I'd recommend Princeton Review over Collegeboard, though; at least for the SATI, I got my score up by 200 points compared to the PSAT with PR.

Maxell888, out of curiosity... which school are you talking about?

where are the practice questions on CB? Do you mean for the CR section or do they have a special one for Lit??

There are 10 sample questions for SATII Lit. Go to "Subject Tests Learning Center", then select "Literature", and you will see a "sample questions" button.

aha!! thank you very much... I didn't see that the first time.
what was the curve on the test like? (I mean, like specifics) if you get 80% what is your score? 90%? 95%? -if you have the booklet...they tell you the curve, I think? I don't know... but any information on this would be very very helpful. Thank you!!

Sorry, in my book, there are no percentages. However... For a raw score of 60-61 out of 61 you get 800, for a 700, a raw score of 44 suffices, and for 600 you need 33. Hope this helps a little!

how is this test compared to the ap lang exam? (sorry if this has already been answered)

I took AP Lang today and taking Lit on Saturday. Basically from my point of view Lit is a bit less in depth (passages are a lot shorter and a bit easier to understand). But Lit also has poetry which Lang does not. Its a hate it or love it kind of thing. The way i see it either you know it or you dont, no use trying to cram (i dont see anything you can cram except literary terms anyway). Im hoping a year of Lang will help me though.

lol I always feel that way about la tests. even if I WANTED to study... I mean unless you do fifty practice tests... shrugz

I was going to take Literature on Saturday instead I think im going to take it in June and US history on Saturday, i too just took the AP Lang A.P. hopefully i wont go completely rusty by june

Ohh Nora_88 um the school I'm hoping to get into that requires SAT II Lit. is UC Davis. I'm on the veterinary track!! Oh and thanks everyone for your help!

is lit one of the harder ones?
