SAT II Math Level 2 Improvement Help - January 2016 Test Date

I took the SAT Math Level 2 test in November along with the biology test.

I studied for the biology test because I hadn’t taken the course in two years, but I did not study for the math 2 because I took the CB released test in the big blue study guide. I got a 790 on the practice exam, but ended up getting a 620 on the real test. It was so much harder than the exam in the book. I bought a Barron’s review book with some practice tests and Dr. Chung’s book, but Chung is pretty hard to get through without stopping after each tip.

I wanted to know what you guys and girls thought I should do to practice. I got an A in my honors Pre-calc class and an A in my last semester of BC, but a lot of this material that I’ve seen in the barron’s book so far is pretty new, like Ellipses and hyperbolas.

Is there a study guide that covers all of this material, or a study plan? I have submitted my college apps, but I really should be getting an 800 with all that I know, and so that my application doesn’t go down the drain. How can I get there?

Thanks!

you may want to review the post titled “Resources I used to get 800 on Math II” by levlevlev11. My son used Barron’s and Dr. Chung’s books as well and he got 800. You seem to be doing well in School. Best wishes for 800!!

Thank you. This was very helpful

You’ll take the SAT in November, so you’ll have a lot of time. Therefore, I really recommend you to use Barron’s, read every concept and practice every question in there. It maybe overprepare, but it will get you a 800 because you will be familiar with difficult exercises.
However, don’t worried about Barron’s practice tests. I scored about 680-720 in Barrons test and still get 800 in the real one. You just use it to prepare. After studying Barrons, you should do other practice tests from McGraw Hills or Cracking SAT. You will see it super easier compared to Barrons. Finally, you find a real College Board test and practice in the last month you before you take the test.
Good luck!

Thanks for the help, guys. I ended up getting a 790 on the test in January.
