SAT II requirement at CMU

My son is interested in CMU (and has good ACT - 35). However, he does not have SAT II in Physics or Chemistry (has Math 2 - 800). Interested in applying to CIT for bio-med+CE. Would his application not be considered (given requirement for Physics or Chemistry SAT II) or would he be just disadvantaged?

Application requirements and instructions at all schools, including Carnegie are very strict.

Without the required subject tests, his application would be “incomplete” and as such, he would simply receive a rejection letter. The file would not even reach the committee.
This is the case at all institutions with incomplete files.

I assume he took one of the two classes in his junior year and the assumption is that he take the SATII at that time.
He would not be viable candidate to CIT if he hasn’t taken either a Chemistry or Physics class by his senior year of which he should then have taken the SATII. Not only is the SATII required in one of those subjects, but the classes are both “highly recommended” in the list of high school classes taken.

Worth noting that there are many incomplete files at all institutions and these feed into the application stats. Schools can show more applications and lower acceptance rates which in theory somehow makes them more attractive (and nets revenues).

Last SATII date is December.

Good luck
