I'll most likely be applying Yale EA in the fall, and I've already started taking the SAT Subject Tests. I already took U.S. History and in October I'll be taking World History and Literature. Will the fact that these tests are in History and Lit. hurt me? Should I take another test which isn't so geared towards the social sciences?
I'm a very social sciences and humanities-centered person, and I'm sure Yale will see that. So, will it be bad that I seem centered in these subjects and not others like Math and Science?

Those tests are fine. Yale only requires 2 subject tests anyway; so taking History and Lit. shouldn't matter. They are, after all, two different subjects.

Top colleges generally like to see a combination of humanities and math/science-based SAT IIs. Assuming you are happy with the score you received on the U.S. History SAT II, there really is no reason to take World History; it's redundant. I recommend skipping it and substituting a math or science SATII for Literature.

I agree with wjb: depending on your US History score, you should probably not take World History. Instead, take Literature and a science...maybe even a math...

^^Good idea, because although Yale requires only 2 SAT IIs, other schools on your list may require 3 SAT IIs. You'll have a well-balanced package with US History, Literature, and a third from the math/science category.

Really? Well, I'm pretty sure I'll have 780-790 for U.S. History, maybe even an 800. I'm just really bad at Math, so I dread any Math tests for college. I think if I take the SAT for Bio, I might have a score in the low 700's. Would Yale be ok with that?

I'm an amazing student in every subject... except Math, so that's why I don't want to have a dreadful score and have colleges see that. Also, can I include other Subject Tests even though Yale only requires two?

Taking Bio rather than Math sounds fine. As far as your question about "including" other Subject test scores goes, when you ask College Board to send your scores to colleges, CB sends all scores -- SAT I and II -- for tests you've taken starting in 9th grade. You can't pick and choose. So whatever tests you take, Yale will receive all the scores. They'll consider only two SAT II scores. Whether they'll consider only your top two scores, assuming your lowest score is on a third test in a non-humanities area, is an interesting question. I still recommend taking the third test in a non-humanities area.

There really is no valid reason to take more than 3 SAT IIs. Schools mean it when they say they want the results from 2, 3, or zero SAT II tests.

Olive_Tree: That's good to hear! Good luck with studying! By the way, we are kind of in the same situation...I'm horrible at math myself and on the June 7th test, I completely crossed off Math on my admission ticket. (I was planning on doing a math for the heck of it, but then I thought about having such a low score on my test list...I definitely did not want to chance it!) SAT II Bio is pretty simple...just study study study!! (If you've taken Bio/AP Bio in high school yet, study your notes...they will help!) Good luck!
