SAT II Scores

Hey guys, I have yet another question. I have two ugly SAT II scores (which I plan to take again to improve drastically upon), and I've been told two different things:

Don't bother retaking, since colleges will see the earlier score and value the new score even less. Just take a different subject test. (Common word on the street)

Definitely retake, since you are at liberty to pick and choose scores that you personally want to send in. (College Counseling)

I'm looking to send in Math II, Chem, and US History if those scores exceed 770. I have yet to take Math II and Chem, and I want to take US History again because I just wanted to test the waters after taking APUSH. My score wasn't terrible, but I feel like getting a 770+ is definitely feasible if I study seriously.

Anyway, which statement is generally true?

Colleges that require subject tests require two and most of those use the highest two if you submit more than two. The others use the ones past two only if they help you. Thus, submitting bad scores will not be used against you unless those are your only scores.

What you need to submit depends on college. Most that require or recommend subject tests allow you to send those tests you want to send but some require you to provide all subject test scores.

The second one is true. I would definitely retake because some colleges require SAT 2.

Retake SAT II’s is definitely the best way to go because if you send the SAT it is very important that your SAT II’s are strong as well.

focus on your AP tests and try to get high scores in them. It will not only improve your GPA dramatically but will win you college credits
