What counts more in the admissions process? SAT IIs or AP Tests?

If the school requires SAT II's they would count far far more in the process. Most schools don't even ask to see your AP scores and unless you find a way to incorporate them into your essay's the admission committee won't even know them.

Really? I thought schools saw all scores.

They don't see your AP scores unless they're included in your high school transcript (which it probably does not). The only time a college sees your AP score is when you send it to redeem college credits. SAT II definitely counts for more in the admissions process. As was stated before, it counts even more if the school requires SAT II scores (and many schools to require them).

I guess that is a little relieving...I am probably going to get a 1 on the AP Physics B test on Monday.

yeah don't worry about. just cancel the score if it's bad.

Wait, AP scores aren't noted on the transcript? Is that true for all applications? I had been under the impression that strong AP scores were more "impressive" than SAT II scores.. I guess that's incorrect.

That's what I thought too. I hope more people comment on this so we can get a few more opinions...not that I don't trust what the others have said. It's just nice to have verification.

I'm pretty sure that if SAT II's are required, they're more important than AP's.

And for my school, AP scores are included on the transcript.

SAT IIs by far.

Yeah, SAT II scores definitely matter more in the admissions process. After you're admitted, AP scores become more important. That's when those "impressive" scores really count.

Depends on what level the school is on.

Top tier school's applications have slots for AP scores specifically.

SAT IIs meet their requirements. If you want admission, for the most part, you need good AP scores as well.

What happens if I taught an AP curriculum to myself and therefore received no grade for a class? Ultimately, the AP test will demonstrate my understanding of the content. How would I go about indicating that when applying?

send a letter

And wtvr be imp, do well in both
