SAT II vs. early action-- chances for Stanford?

I was told I should apply to Stanford by my journalism advisor last week, and after a lot of research, Stanford looks perfect for me. However, I don't have time to take the SAT subject tests before the early action deadline. Should I wait, ace the tests, and apply regular decision, or forget the subject tests and apply early?

Otherwise, I think I'm a pretty strong candidate. I've got a 3.95 GPA at a very competitive early-college high school in Utah and will graduate with my associate degree (still a freshman applicant though), three years of college German, tons of service, four years and head editor at school newspaper (I'll be a Comm major), four years and co-coach of a very successful Science Olympiad team, National Honor society Service Coordinator, National Merit Semifinalist, etc. My current SAT scores are 800 CR, 800 W, 670 M (retaking tomorrow).

I'll be applying to Boston University, UPenn, Brigham Young University, and possibly NYU as well. How are my chances?

You need to think it through carefully. Stanford has a high rejection rate at REA. Very little number of REA applicants are deferred. If you have a strong application, go ahead for REA. If you have any doubt, you should wait. You probably want to see your October SAT score first as your current score is good but not very competitive among other REA applicants.
