SAT II???

I’m a senior in high school, and I have already applied or am about to apply to most of my schools. My dad, however, recently (like yesterday) went on a crazy college rant. He really wants me to apply to Stanford, as well as Georgetown and some ivies. The problem here is that I haven’t taken any SAT subject tests because the schools I’m applying to don’t require them, or even consider them. He wants me to register late for Dec 2 and take them anyway. I’m thinking that it’s not worth it, because there is no guarantee that I would score well, and even if I did, my other stats are nowhere near good enough to get me into such schools (3.53 UW 4.66 W 1440 SAT, 6 APs 4+). Also, Dec 2 is in like 3 weeks, and I’m stressed as it is. Should I just take them just in case? Or is it really not worth it?

I can’t speak for Georgetown, but your GPA is not in the ballpark for Stanford or Ivy League. You and your Dad need to reread your earlier threads requesting info on targets and safeties.

I understand your dilemma. I admire you for being realistic. If you have bandwidth, just to please your dad (as long as he is willing to pay), you may want to take the subject tests and apply to few of the schools he is suggesting. So he doesn’t say rest of your life that you could have got in if you had applied:) I agree with you that your chances of getting into those schools are low. Think…why would a college like Stanford accept you instead of someone who has done well from your school?

@skieurope I already have a lot of matches and safeties, and I’m already accepted to 2 schools. These schools, if I do decide to even apply, are crazy reaches, and I know that. What my dad is trying to convince me of is that if I have the chance, I should at least apply.

That’s just it - you don’t have a chance, IMO. Take the Subject Tests if that will get your dad off your back, since those are only a couple hours of your time. But applying to those schools will take hours and hours to do each application. Is that the best use of limited time? If your dad were pushing it a few months ago, I might have said something different, but deadlines are in 6 short weeks.

It is not a lotto that anyone would have a chance if they buy the ticket. You may apply but it is most likely a waste of time and money with near, if not at, zero chance.
