how many sat 2's does johns hopkins require?

also, if i came from korean in 9th grade, do i have to take the TOEFL?
this is a question not only for JHU but also for other colleges.
BTW im not studing aboard or anything. i came to U.S. with family in 9th grade.

New Hopkins policy for standardized test requirements:
http://apply.jhu.edu/faqs/newsat.html

As far as TOEFL requirements at Hopkins, the TOEFL is required of applicants whose native language is not English and who attend a non-English speaking high school. If you attend an English language school but do not speak English at home, you should take TOEFL. If your native language is not English and you attend high school in the USA, you must take TOEFL if you have been here for fewer than five years. The minimum scores needed are: 600 (written test) or 250 (computer test). Students who score 670 or higher on the SAT I Verbal test are not required to submit a TOEFL score.

Hope that helps.

all my korean friends who were born in america and go to english high schools speak korean at home. should they take it too?

as for me, i lived in america for a total of 8 years, not consecutive 8 years tho... since i lived in america for more than 5 years put together do i still have to take the TOEFL?

is the toefl test for JHU just a matter of if you can get the minimum score, such as 600 or 250, or do you have to do well on it, such as in the SATs

i checked with one of the adcoms and the five year stipulation relates to time in a US high school consecutively counting back from the year you apply. So if you have not been in a US high school for the past five years consecutively, and English is not your native language, you should take the TOEFL.

And yes the TOEFL score matters. The 600/250 scores are minimums to be considered for admission, but your overall score will be factores like on the SATs and/or ACTs.

how can i be in high school for five years unless i flunked?
you're saying that unless i lived in the US for the last five years, i have to take the toefl, right?

so if i got higher than 670 on the CR, regardless of how many years i lived in US, i dont have to take the TOEFL?

I lived in the US for 7 years...went to a US high school....Didn't make the 670 mark on verbal...didn't take TOFEL and still got accepted.
