I managed to get a 2270 on my SAT Is, a score I'm very pleased with. I have always been planning to take the SATs but I'm becoming weary about them. I am now considering taking the ACTs, feeling fairly confident I can score well on them. That way, I wouldn't have to take the SAT IIs unless I performed poorly on the ACTs since colleges take the ACTs without supplements. But could I also send my SAT Is for review? Because the score is definitely a strong point. Does anyone think this is a good idea?

You are incorrect to assume you can necessarily avoid SAT IIs by taking the ACT. There are a number of colleges that usually require SAT IIs that will accept the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT IIs but there are also many that usually require SAT IIs which require them even if you submit ACT. Go to site at end of this paragraph for a list of colleges that require, recommend, or consider SAT IIs. In the first “required” column, an * next to the number of SAT IIs required means the college accepts the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT IIs; if there is no * you still have to submit SAT IIs even if you submit ACT; moreover, the colleges in the second column that “recommend” SAT IIs generally recommend them regardless of whether you submit SAT or ACT: [Compass: Admissions Requirements](<a href=“SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group”>SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group)

As to colleges that normally require SAT IIs but accept the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT IIs, you must submit the SAT IIs to have the SAT considered at all; if you submit just SAT and ACT, they will look at only the ACT. Other colleges will use for admission that score they believe is higher, SAT or ACT.
