Hey guys I recently took the SAT and got an 1870. 530 cr, 670 math and 670 writing.
Planning on SAT in may. I have taken over 50 practice tests and have finished quite a few prep books.
As you can see, I am struggling with CR. What suggestions do you guys have for me?

Read a variety of quality materials which are written at a high level eg. classic literature, NY Times editorials, or whatever interests you, but it should be sophisticated writing and use high level vocabulary. Make sure you understand what you’re reading. Get in the habit of reading daily. Look up words you encounter which you don’t know. Did you go over the practice test questions you got wrong and try to understand what you are doing wrong? 50 tests seems like a lot to me. I doubt taking more practice tests will help that much.

I got a 790 on the critical reading on the first “dry run” of the SAT with no study. However, I had previously studied for the PSAT. I feel that the key is simply being able to find the answers in the passages, as well as vocab. If you have gone through several prep books then I assume you have gone through quite a few vocab words.

Therefor (tell me if I’m wrong on this), it seems the trouble is in your reading comprehension.

I really don’t have a “cure-all” answer, but I can tell you that I have read books my entire life, and that has helped me SO much in reading and writing. You have 3 months, so maybe pick out one or two books that you really like and read them cover to cover, making an effort to actually understand the book, and not simply get through the reading as one would while reading for an English class for example.

I really think that could help.
