Sat Lit. vs Chem.

Hi,

I'm going to be a senior next year.
I got a 720 on chem, but a 5 on the AP test.
I'm aiming for schools in the top 15.
should i retake this?
my math score is 800.
I haven't taken SAT 1 yet, and i think that studying for SAT Lit will help me on the sat 1, right?
I think my strengths lie in English and the such, though i spent the majority of my junior year studying maths and sciences.

also, i heard that some schools allow you to replace a sat 2, with the ACT score, is that true??

it's summer, and the thought of reviewing an old subject that i disliked repulses me; i'd rather study for a test that demonstrates my ability to think is better right?

however, to keep my options open, i should also have a high sat chem score, right?

Thanks!

a 720 is pretty darn good -- with that being said if you can get a 780+, it might be worth it because that would be much more impressive

SAT Lit is much more difficult than Critical Reading and has totally different contents. SAT Lit is about knowing poetry and prose. Critical Reading is about passages and vocabulary.

If you enjoy reading and read plenty from different time periods, you won't even have to study for lit. Or at least I got a pretty good score just from reading a lot. Maybe look over your literary elements (alliteration, etc.) but that's about it... And like cafeismone said, it's pretty different from CR even though reading comprehension is key in both.

Some schools require 2 SATIIs one of which is Math II and another science
(if youa re applying to engineering/science). H and P require 3 SAT IIs.

You can substitute ACT for your SATI.

Look through old threads in the SAT Subject Tests Prepration Forum - all of your questions will be answered.

ooooookk thanksthanks.

The SAT Lit exam follows the AP English exam format more closely.

As for your score on the SAT II, if you are certain you can raise the score, do so. If not, see whether your strengths lie in Phys/Bio. You should aim for at least a 760 if you are looking at HYPSM.
