hi , i am an indian student and i have planned to take my SAT lit test in december. unfortunately i couldnt get ANY book anywhere in my country... books that i can procure from the US, either cost tooo much or take tooo long... can anyone help me out with this??? i badly need to start my preparation... any e books or online materials???

SAT lit’s not really worth prepping for, since it’s just reading.

^ I disagree. it’s good to get used to how CB interprets the poems. granted it doesn’t take the same level of prep as world history, but i strongly recommend doing the 6 tests in the Kaplan book.

It’s not how CB interpret the poems if you do Kaplan tests, is it?

Meh, I think the most important thing is speed, which I s’pose could be developed with practice tests.

^ Well, both Kaplan and CB come up with really straightforward interpretations. doing the practice tests will teach you not to over think things on the real test. i also know that people on this board who got 800 like lolcats did a lot of prep.

I guess. But “overthinking” isn’t the term here. Getting stuff wrong on a test of reading isn’t “overanalysis” it’s “faulty analysis”. =]

^ sounds like you’ve never aced lit ;)

Not yet, but I will this time.

Ahahaha, because clearly, one interpretation will stand out as the Truth™, the Whole Truth™, and Nothing But The Truth™…

Although from what I’ve heard the Lit test is fairly formulaic so the Truth™ really is out there. ;D

If you really are afraid of doing poorly cough up the cash for a book online, lol. If you think you need to prep extensively though maybe Lit isn’t the right test for you…

if you consider yourself a strong literature student you should probably do a lot of practice tests…remembering that there is one right answer in the passage is surprisingly hard. this test is enormously silly, but hey…

folks… i agree about all that practice tests and stuff… but the problem here is i don have books… not even one… even for the practice tests… pr kaplan barrons… none is available in my country

neethu16 , you CAN buy any of the books required for preparation from amazon.com(USA Amazon)

Their prices range from 10.99 to 12.99 $ I recommend that you buy Kaplan 2008-2009 SAT Subject Literature prepbook.

Here is a link :
[Amazon.com: Kaplan SAT Subject Test: Literature, 2008-2009 Edition (Kaplan Sat Subject Test.
Regarding your other question :

Amazon.com offers shipping to India. These are the delivery estimates:

[Amazon.com: Help > Shipping & Delivery > Shipping Rates and Times > International Shipping Rates and Times > Asia & Pacific Islands](http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=596188&#country)

So you can choose priority shipping to India , delivery estimates are 2-4 days…

yeah… i already checked out amazon… its too expensive
i would not be able to afford it…

i already checked out amazon. i would not be able to afford it
though the price of the book is jus 13$ the shipment charges come to 30$ :(

Have you tried Sparknotes? Is there some sort of American Cultural Centre/Fulbright Agency in India? They often have books that you could study with.

i tried sparknotes. they don’t have the book. and i also tried the library in the american consulate. they don have the book either

do you have friends in the states? or people who might have ordered the book? maybe you can photocopy theirs? get your school to order it?

i asked my friend there to get me a book and mail me. but that again is very expensive i guess… comes to around 50$

try purchasing a used one online? might be cheaper. At least you’re investing your money in something worthwhile (your education).

its not the books themselves that i cant afford… its those shipment charges… thats the problem… i tried almost all the boook agencies in my country and they don have the book… and all the sites from US charge exorbitantly for the shipment… :(
