I've recently taken a couple of the practice tests in the Barrons prep book and they are easily the most difficult mathematics questions I've ever encountered. I've already taken the math II once (in June) and scored 100 points more than my average score from the Barrons prep book. Are these prep tests designed to be that much more difficult than the real thing?

Yes, Barron has alot harder and it has alot of extraneous topics.

I see.

If I'm scoring 600-650 on the Barrons practice tests, about what does that equate to on the real thing?

I would like to get at least a 720.

i was scoring in the 650s on barron's, but i got 800 on the real thing.
barron's is really a confidence blower... and quite unnecessary in hindsight.

For me
Barrons: <650
Real thing: 790

Is it a good idea to continue using Barron's anyway? I've been getting from 520-620. I just want a high 600/low 700 (more is great, but I'm realistic, I'm really bad at math) but I'm too broke to really buy another test book. =/

for me Barron:710-720
Real thing: 790

Well, ask yourself "Do I know the topics that are actually going to be on the test?"
Then decide.

Honestly, I would not use the Barron's. It's extremely difficult, a confidence blower, and a waste of time. It teaches you topics not on the test, therefore wasting your time. I would use PR for a more accurate representation.

hmm... i think if feel that you're quite strong at math, you should challenge yourself with barron's. otherwise, it really is a waste of time.

actually if you really want ot challenge yourself try meylani aka RUSH

What about Sparknotes? I reviewed the online material..very concise and much better summary than Barrons and I've taken the tests..scored 750 about. Are those accurate? I really want to step it up and aim for the 800. I can't believe i'm still scoring 750s...

how many months of prep do you think is needed if you forgot most of biology?
I seen one of the PR books and it looked pretty thick

I'd say Sparknotes is about the same difficulty. I made 780-790 on my Sparknotes practice tests, 680 on Barron's, and 800 on the real one.

okay. i got an 800 on math level II.
This is wat i got on each of the prep book practice tests.
Princeton Review: 800
BlueBook test: 780
Barrons: 560 (dont worry. seriously barrons is effing hard)
Kaplan: 800
Rush SAT: 760

So dont freak out if u have barrons. I personally thought it was a waste of time going over barrons. I personall think PR is the best.
I thougt the BB practice test was harder than the real one, but not by a lot.
Kaplan's math review isnt that gud, but their tests are great. so try those.
I hope you do well on it! :)

The good thing is that our school used to give us exams and questions much much tougher than Barron's and any other book. =]
