SAT Math BB Question

<p>In the figure above, rectangle ABCD is made up of seven nonoverlapping rectangles. The two smallest rectangles have the same area. EAch of the other rectangles has twice the area of the next smaller rectangle. The area of the shaded rectangle is what fraction of the area of rectangle ABCD?</p>

<p>I thought it was 1/32? But the answer is 1/64?</p>

<p>Lol, I just did this one a few hours ago. Say the smallest rectangle is 1 sqare unit and there are 2 of them. So, the rec. beside that one is 2 square units, and the above is 4, the on the left is 8, the one on top is 16, and the one on the left is 32. So add up 1+1+2+4+8+16+32=64 square units. So, since the rectangle is 1 square unit out 64, it is 1/64 of the entire figure</p>
