Are there any questions on the SAT math about confidence intervals? Like 95% confidence (statistics)
I believe I have seen this once on an SAT practice test (not including the subject test). You should know that about 68% of the data lies within 1 SD of the mean and about 95% of the data lies within 2 SD of the mean. They will give you the standard deviation if it’s on the non-calculator section.
For example, a question could say: “In a large sample of adult male heights, the standard deviation was 1.5 inches and the mean was 70 inches. About what percentage of the heights are less than 73 inches?”
or: “A very large sample of heights for adult females was taken. If it was found that the mean height of the sample was 64 inches and 95% of the heights were between 61.6 and 66.4 inches, what was the standard deviation of heights for this sample?”
