Hmm I know MIT requires you to take a "math" test.. does it matter which one you take? (For some reason.. even though I used to be very strong in math.. I kind of got careless and now it's my weakest subject (in testing) since I could just get by without doing much, what a shame).

I think you should take math II, I've heard that they don't really take Math I seriously since its almost the same as the math sections in the Sat I....Thats what Ive heard, you might want to ask you GC to see what he thinks..

Does a good MATH2 score compensate for a crummy SATIMath score?

lol theonekid, i used to be good at math too until this year and now im finding out that it is apparently my weakest area in terms of standerdized testing as well....its kind of disappointing thats its all due to carelessness as all the mistakes that i make are pretty dumb

haha, I'm the opposite. Can't stand the subject in school, but it somehow came out as my best testing one. I'm weird like that.

If you're applying to MIT, definitely take the Math II. Math I is a joke but even Math II only goes up to trig. There's a tiny bit of precalc but not enough to really count it in.

You especially want to take Math II if you're up in higher maths like precalc or calc. By then, you've probably forgotten a good portion of geometry which is what Math I seems to focus on. Add that to how much better II looks and how much easier it is to get an 800 if you review a little basic trig and it's hardly a decision.

Put it this way, get 5 questions wrong on Math I and you're easily down to 700. Ouch, embarrassing. Get 5 wrong on Math II and you've still got a decent shot at an 800.

Hope that helped!

How about taking BOTH tests??

i took both... by accident. my dad signed me up for IC when i was a freshie and i didnt know anything about the SATs (or else, i would havewaited an just took the IIC). i got a 750. then i saw there was a IIC, and i took it in soph year, before precal, and got 800
i dont know how colleges will view it... oh wells (the tests were fun though, woohoo!!!! lol)
