SAT Math

Hey guys, I am a good math student(or I think I am), I was wondering what are some good tips in preparing for the math section of the SAT. I am able to do the first 5-10 questions on the practice tests, but once it comes it comes to word problems and such sort of problems I begin to struggle for the answer. What are some ways to conquer such problems and be able to solve them.

Post Away, Thanks.

not just world problems, but also other difficult problems

the only tip that actually works…and trust this is the only one…
you have to do keep doing practice sections until it clicks…
I KNOW this sounds ridiculous, but trust me that is the way to do it…even if you have like 2 to 3 weeks before the exam…just keep doing practice tests and reviewing your answers and figuring out what you did wrong.
eventually you will start to see patterns and similarities and become a beast in SAT math

good luck :)

don’t get overwhelmed by a problem. Sometimes the longest ones are the easiest. Just break it down sentence by sentence. I like to write down key details below as well.

as for word problems, just break it down into steps

read the question

what is it asking for?

what information is given?

how can i use the information given and my current math knowledge to find what it is asking for?

get ur answer

most of the math word problems on here are all about writing equations to relate variables…again, this can only come with practice
ask you math teacher for some help if you are struggling with relating variables or thinking outside the box on how to solve harder word problems…he or she will be of alot more help right now
