Hey everyone. I took the SAT twice before but I didn’t see any improvement in my score. Over the summer, I did the Princeton Review Course and I didn’t find it as beneficial as I expected it to be so i have been driven away from Classroom courses. Now, I’ve been doing some research and I came across Green SAT Prep and Prepscholar, both of which seem extremely convincing and its been really hard to decide which one to sign up for. I can’t do both so I need to choose one of them. Do any of you have any idea of which one would be better or more beneficial? I am looking for a 200-300 point improvement so i can apply to the universities i want to. If you guys have any recommendation on any of the above or any other SAT online courses please answer. I really need help deciding and i would appreciate any opinions or advice to any course or any other way that will help me improve my SAT score.
From what I’ve heard, they are roughly the same. There are users here that have strong opinions about test prep programs, so maybe they’ll answer you.
I really suggest that you look through your previous exams to see the types of questions you are getting wrong. From there, you can go into whatever test prep program/tutor with a concrete idea of what you should be working on.
Prepscholar worked for my daughter. I don’t have any experience with Green SAT Prep so I can’t compare the two. Prepscholar has a money back guarantee too. I really liked the format and that the essays were read by real humans. I was impressed enough with it that I plan to use it again for my sons. You can also do a free trial to see if you like it.
@IHeartMath123 Hey thank you for your advice, but for may, in my real SAT I managed to achieve 52 out of 54 with one omitted and one incorrect. So I’m hoping thats fine for now, any idea on what to do for critical reading or writing?
What kind of learner are you? Are you self-motivated? Can you self-structure your time?
If you are a self starter, you likely only need a tutor for the questions you REALLY don’t understand. Prepscholar and Green SAT would most likely be very good for you.
If you are also good at managing your time and schedule, you can save money by getting Direct Hits (for sentence completions - critical reading) and The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar by Erica Meltzer (for multiple choice writing section) or similar books. There are a ton of things you can do, but make sure you’ve evaluated and understand what your real problems are before studying. Otherwise, you won’t have direction and won’t be as effective, much like a missile with no target.
