So I’m taking a summer class for physics and want to take the subject test in October. I’m aiming for an 800, but recent but scored a 620 on a Barron’s practice test. The summer class hasn’t covered electricity and magnetism yet, but aside from that is my goal score doable? Also what should I be doing to prepare for the test other than reading from the book?
@aj5132 Memorize the formulas!! That is a huge part of SAT Physics. Other than that, just continue reviewing and taking practice tests. An 800 is still doable! Don’t give up.
As MrAustere mentioned above, yes, definitely memorize the formulas. On the day of the test, no formula sheet will be given.
Also, if you need clarification on any topics you’re struggling on, watch the videos from APlusPhysics.com or Bozeman Science. I use them all the time and they are excellent resources to use.
Lastly, if you can, try to get the SAT Physics book from the Princeton Review. I too am also going to take the test in the fall, and so far, the book is fantastic. Great content, nice practice questions. The questions seem accurate to the practice questions I’ve seen. Barron’s from what I’ve heard is a great choice though.
Don’t worry about your score yet! It’s only the beginning of summer, and you have 3 months before you have to take. And on top of that, at least 60/75 correct will usually give you an 800! Very generous curve.
Great idea of starting ahead of time!
