SAT Physics vs SAT Chem

I’m trying to decide on which science SAT to take (already taking Math II). I understand that the Physics SAT has a better curve and less questions but I’m not sure which would be easier to score in the upper ranges (780-800). I’ve already taken AP Chem and AP Physics (1).

Edit: I’d like to point out that Chemistry seems a bit easier to understand from my time in the respective AP classes. But if the Physics exam’s curve is a lot better, I’d be willing to broaden my horizon.

In my experience, Physics has more questions and Chemistry is more easier. Why not take them both? You have taken AP classes in both subjects and you can decide which score to submit to universities.

I would recommend physics if you have enough time to study. There are still some parts of the sat Chem exam that are not covered in the ap, so you would have to do some independent study anyway. Phys has fewer questions (75) vs Chem (85), and it has a better curve.

If you’ve done both AP classes, I’d say take both tests. The Physics test isn’t terribly difficult to get an 800 on with AP prep, but just in case test day doesn’t work out as you planned, the Chemistry test is a good backup while still demonstrating your skills.

Thanks. I’ll buy a Barron’s physics book then as I already have a Chem one. Does scoring well on 3 subject tests look better than 2 for schools like Stanford, MIT, and Princeton? Also, about how long do you think it’d take to run through a prepbook? I have a considerable amount of time now since it’s summer so I probably could squeeze in all 3 preps (half way done with Math2)
