SAT Practice Test Scores Decreasing....

1st Practice Test: 1910-2130
2nd Practice Test: 1810 - 2180
3rd Practice Test: 1800-2110

What the hell?!?!?!?!?
I've studied more and more between each test and yet my scores are steadily decreasing. I didn't time my 1st test, so maybe this group of results is deceiving, but regardless, how am I not improving? I'm really frustrated because my target score is 2300 or <, and it's definitely not working out.

The average is how you real likely do on the real test with an upside bias for additional study. Anyway, you won’t always score higher on practice exams but with enough studying you should be able to build a good upside trend.

Yeah, but the average of those scores are generally around 1900/2000… not what I’m aiming for, and even then, my scores are still on a gradual decrease. I’ve been studying (relatively) rigorously, specifically brushing up on my grammar, and yet I got a whopping 10 questions wrong on the 1st section of the multiple choice! :mindblown:

Consider taking a hiatus from doing practice tests. You may be burned out.

I did take a hiatus. This was my first practice test since a couple of weeks ago, like at the end of June/beginning of July.

The majority of people on this site are scoring 2100/2200 and I’m still stuck on the backburner. Have they put in more work than me? Perhaps. But I’ve been sort of studying since basically November, picking up the pace this summer, and it’s frustrating to see zero improvement as it is, but a decrease? I was scoring around the same, and even a little higher when I first began studying for the SAT…

Don’t believe everything your read on this site. The average SAT is 1500 so a 2100 SAT by itself won’t likely keep you out of any college . But it will put pressure on your EC’s and Rec’s to be far, far above the norm for the school. Also whatever you read on this site, as far as Sat goes, divide in half them multiply by .5. Keep Studying, shoot for the 2100. The good news is that it’s a realistic goal. As you’re finding out the SAT is a bit of a crap shoot, which is why schools consider more than one test so take the test knowing that a mulligan is always available.

I’m aiming for a 2300, not a 2100.

With that being said, my EC’s and Rec’s are **** poor. Practically non-existent.

Many will disagree, but IMO once you acquire a certain skill-set, I think it really just comes down to the test you get.

My friend’s SAT scores went something like 2050, 2020, 2150 with no added prep in between the 2020 and 2150 (he claims).

The majority of people on this site are scoring 2100/2200

The “majority” of people on this site (and everywhere else) say a lot of things.

With that being said, my EC’s and Rec’s are **** poor. Practically non-existent.

These things (especially EC’s) are overrated. Admissions officers know that many kids exaggerate or outright falsify them.

The other poster was correct that you need to take a break from this crap.

Is this not summer? Get into some water or something. Hang out with friends. Go to the mall and watch a stupid movie (yes, that’s redundant).

You WILL earn a high score on the SAT, and you WILL attend a fine college.
