Have any of you used any of the SAT Prep classes (such as Princeton Review, Kaplan, etc..) and mind giving me your two cents worth? I'm currently a sophomore and plan on taking the SAT in early 2014, I've already bought the Blue Book and Barrons book to self study for the next 7 or so months and when it gets nearer I'm planning on doing an intensive prep course. I'm looking to get a 2250+ and my parents would probably be willing to spend up to $4000 for a course if the results are real and worth it.

Hi tys123,

I have no direct experience with the PR, Kaplan, etc. classes (because I teach an SAT prep class of my own locally), but I do believe that classes are helpful to students. There are many strategies that can be learned and practiced to help you increase your score. If you are great at studying on your own, you may not need a class. However, classes can help motivate you and challenge you more than you likely could yourself. Plus if the instructor is good and experienced, he/she can help you pinpoint areas you need to strengthen that you may not realize yourself. If money is not a prohibitive factor, I would get as much help as I could get (just shop around to see the best offerings for you).

Hope this is helpful.
