Hello, I am a student n the 11th grade, and I’m thinking about taking one these SAT prep courses, I am not that motivated to do self-study, my father does not have a problem paying, so would you recommend taking it? and if anybody has taken such courses please tell me about your experience. Thanks
My school offered a kaplin sat weekend boot camp. It was ten hours it was ten hours of instruction for 60 bucks. Which is a great price. However, I felt it was light weight and Airy. I wouldn’t go with a kaplin course but probably with a Princeton review if I had to choose between the two. Also no mAtter which one you go with the fact that you’re not self motivated to study won’t help much even if you take the best class offered. This may seem irrelevant because you won’t be studying by yourself but it is important. Because no matter what is handed to you if you don’t want to do something it’s not going to happen. Good luck also research other brands too.
As, if not more important than the classes is doing timed practice tests. Do Kaplan and Princeton Review in your area offer timed practice tests as part of the package? I went to a free presentation by one of the test prep companies here in NYC and I think they said that they like to see minimum 5 to 6 timed practice tests and that most of their top scoring kids do 10 before sitting for the actual test. Obviously, you then go over the mistakes that you made on the tests.
Taking a course from Kaplan and Princeton review are among the worst ways to improve your score. Check out some of the stickied threads for better suggestions.
