What was your experience with these classes like? Also, what were your scores on the practice scores like in comparison to your SAT scores?

bump...just want to know

It didn't help me a bit. I took the Princeton Review summer course so we did it in a shorter time period (2 weeks). There were 4 tests. You take the first one on your first day and one on your last day. I think the other tests were about 3-4 days apart. We also got homework everyday. My score was still in the 1900 range from day one. I think it's because you can't really expect your score to increase in 2 weeks. Also, they give you two books included in the price: 11 Practices Tests for the SAT and Manual for the SAT (which probably cost $50 max together when the course costs $900). All the teacher does (who, by the way is a college student), is explain what's in the Manual. My suggestion is that you buy these two books and practice on your own. Then go ahead and buy the Official SAT Study Guide (called the Blue Book on this forum) and do those tests. My score has so far shot up 300 pts after the Blue Book and practicing on my own.

I took Princeton Review as well. Do not take it. I did not want to in the first place, but my parents forced me into it. Basically, its a 4 week course where they give four exams and homework every day (like the person above said). In my experiences, the course heavily focuses on SAT Math because most of the students have trouble with the math section the most. I did 1 or 2 days max of Reading and CR.

I didn't come into the course without any SAT practice, I already had studied and I was scoring in the 2200's in the Official BB. On the Princeton tests i would get 2000's and 2100's or 100-200 points lower. I think there tests are much harder than the actual SAT's.

The course is for those who do not have the motivation to study on their own. Unless you have not started studying for the SAT yet I would not recommend taking it.

kaplan tutoring
400 point increase

it doesn't help at all if u studied by urself already
i was always unmotivated when it comes to SATs they just seemed like this giant walls between me and college and it was kinda intimidating

Right Now I'm Taking The Kaplan SAT Prep Course (for free) and I find it sort of boring. The only good thing was the diagnostic test which made me aware of how deficient i am (got a 1550). What I do want to know is if the Kaplan tests are comparable to the actual College Board SAT or are unrealistic?

um take a college board practice test, if you get less than a 1800 combine or 1300 math and reading, then take the class, cause it will help you with math skills and becoming fast and such if you do not have much effort to do it yourself.

I had a low 1700 score, and i did very little studying, next time I just read a nytimes articles a day for 2 weeks and did like 4 practice SAT tests and I bumped it upto a 1980(not spectacular but a significant jump), so the class should help you cause itll help with random math problems and in between classes u should check yourslef with a practice SAT test( i took my tests with 5 minutes less on each section than the actual thing jsut to prepare myself)
