How should I prep for the SAT with my hectic schedule? I have school all day, homework for about 2 hours each night, piano lessons, and I work a few nights a week for a couple hours each. I also work on Saturday morning. I have no study halls during school. That leaves most of the weekend, but I want to have some time left for CC!

What's an effective strategy for SAT Prep if I might not have a 4 hour block to do a practice test? I'll be taking the test in October.

Well that's tough,

It's really important to take the tests, the whole 4 hours a few times to develop stamina, but as you explained, you can't. What I suggest is that you break the test into 2 or 3 pieces. That means just 2 or 3 sections at a time, not of the same subject, just in order as on a real test. So break a test into sections 1, 2, 3, and another part iinto 4, 5, 6 etc. You seem to be busy, and I bet you get tired out after piano lessons or work. Take the 3 sections right after work or lessons. That way you know you have drained your energy or have strained your stamina, and it would be like you are finishing the last sections of the real test. You could try this,

Do sectiosn 1,2,3 when your are energized and active, that's how you'll feel on test day
Do the next part after lessons or work, and the same for the last part, you will feel the brain drain like on test day.

Main idea- Practice between work, so you'll develop good stamina,

As for studying and the rest, work at each subject at a time so you can break it into smaller parts.

Good luck!!

I'm in the same situation but I've set aside at least 30 minutes each day to do some prep. For practice tests, I do them on the weekends when I have time (sunday afternoons).

you should have studied over the summer, and then took it in october. (that's what i did, because i will also be very busy this school year).

I did some prep over the summer. I took some practice tests in sections, but I didn't stress too much about doing it all at once. My practice tests gave me scores like 2020, which are sub-par, so I really need some prep.

I'm not sure how I'll handle the whole stamina thing. Surprisingly, I usually don't get tired during the day. Only now at 11 pm am I starting to wind down. But I also find it hard to stay focused long enough to practice. I have no problem taking tests at school, so perhaps this is a motivation issue?

I need to stop posting on my own threads. That's usually what ends the discussion in a snap.

LOL! Same thing happens to me.
I'd say just do the last few Q's for math/writing/sentence completion.
and the long passages for reading comp.
